Prerequisites for Using the .NET Passport SDK

This documentation is for non-Windows-based ports of Passport Manager version 1.1. For information about the differences between this and the current Windows-based version, see Passport 1.1 Operational Differences.

Use of the Microsoft^® Passport Manager Software Development Kit (SDK) with non-Windows-based systems requires some basic knowledge of certain applications, scripting languages, and other information. The SDK documentation presumes an understanding of the following technologies:

• Web servers
• Apache HTTP Server
• mod_perl —Required for Apache Active Server Pages (ASP)
• mod_so —Required for Apache ASP and application programming interface (API)
• Netscape
• iPlanet
• Active Server Pages (Perl ASP)
• Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)
• HyperText Markup Language (HTML)
• Browser interoperability
• Cookies
